Andrew Reid, Vision Critical Founder Leaves Ahead of IPO for a New Startup

Andrew Reid, who founded Canadian marketing technology company Vision Critical Communications Inc. more than a decade ago, is leaving to head his own startup.

According to Bloomberg, Reid, currently president of corporate innovation, will run VC Labs, a separate company focused on building applications that work with Vision Critical’s “insight communities” — groups of consumers companies can tap to get rapid feedback on new products or marketing campaigns.

Vision Critical is planning an initial public offering or sale to another company sometime in 2017, according to people familiar with the matter.

The company is also said to be trying to sell the stake owned by Reid’s father, Angus Reid. That would take both father and son out of the business, though Andrew Reid will maintain his shares and a board seat, the company said in an e-mailed statement.
