Imo Police arrest kidnap suspect, Aralu Chukwudi, recover stolen vehicle

Personnel of the anti-kidnapping unit of the Imo State Police Command have confirmed the arrest of a suspected kidnap kingpin, Aralu Chukwudi Charis (40), of Otolo, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Pageone gathered that the suspect was arrested on April 13 following a raid of his hideout in Mgbidi, Oru East. The operation was led by CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, followed credible intelligence.

The suspect, who was paraded yesterday at the command headquarters in Owerri, is said to have masterminded several kidnapping and robberies in the state.

Command’s spokesman Henry Okoye said: “On searching his hideout, one Toyota Camry (MUS 509 DS Lagos), reportedly snatched from a victim, was recovered. In the course of investigation, he confessed that he is the leader of a deadly criminal syndicate, and also provided crucial information that will assist in the arrest of his members at large.”

Okoye added that the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigation.
