Police parade 64 suspected cultists in Lagos

Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, on Wednesday, paraded 64 persons allegedly involved in cultism, robbery, kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms, among other crimes.
Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade, who paraded the suspects and exhibits recovered from them, said they were arrested within the last one month

Fayoade is also celebrating 100 days in office.

According to him, 20 firearms, including four toy guns, 120 rounds of toy ammunition, 28 live ammunitions, 15 live cartridges, and three expended cartridges were recovered alongside four vehicles, a POS machine, seven cutlasses, illicit drugs, and various charms.

Fayoade said the paraded persons included three suspected leaders of hoodlums terrorizing Agbara and its environs, and two suspected robbers in possession of a toy gun around the Badagry/Seme border.

The police commissioner added that about 17:40pm on March 15, operatives of the command arrested one Aliu Umaru (25) and Sabiu Abdullahi (20) in possession of a toy gun around Badagry/Seme border.

He said all suspects arrested will be charged to court after investigations, while efforts to arrest others and ensure justice prevails are ongoing.

To celebrate his 100 days in office, Fayoade highlighted the command’s achievements under his leadership.

“The command has prioritised professionalism, accountability, and community engagement. Efforts have been directed towards improving police responsiveness, visibility, and effectiveness in combating crime.

“The command has also revamped township patrols, with a focus on high-risk areas during peak periods. This has contributed significantly to reducing incidents of traffic robberies.”
