Manchester United football club have announced that forward Mason Greenwood will leave the club by mutual agreement.
Recall that Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 following allegations surrounding material which was published online.
But in a statement on Monday, the Red Devils said Greenwood will be leaving the club following an internal investigation into the allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault against him.
“All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United,” the statement reads in part.
“It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”
