Mastercard partners Ripple and Consensus for its CBDC program

Global payments giant Mastercard has tapped Ripple and blockchain development firm Consensys as initial partners for its a central bank digital currency program.

On Thursday, Mastercard announced that it is convening a group of blockchain and payment services providers to participate in the program.

The initial partners of the program include Ripple, Consensys, Fireblocks and Fluency, a tokenized assets service provider.
