U.S presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis vows to ban CBDCs if elected

The governor of Florida and GOP presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis has vowed to ban central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) if he were elected president.

DeSantis made the vow at the Family Leadership Summit in Iowa last Friday.

DeSantis has been a critic of CDBDs for allowing “government-sanctioned surveillance,” and in March signed a bill to prohibit the use of a national CBDC as money within Florida.

DeSantis has not been very supportive of crypto too, previously calling its use a question of civil liberty and describing bitcoin (BTC) as a “threat to the current regime.”
