Noodles Are Safe For Consumption – NAFDAC Reassures Nigerians

National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has assured Nigerians that Noodle brands in the country are safe to consume.

According to a statement from the agency, the Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, made this announcement on Thursday at the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) House in Ikeja, Lagos, during the agency and MAN’s quarterly interactive session.

She said that the agency’s inquiries had shown that the Indomie noodles linked to the recalls in Malaysia and Taiwan were not present in Nigeria.

She continued by saying that the agency has performed all essential examinations on the samples.

The DG urged Nigerian producers to work hard to improve the quality of their goods.

“That’s why I urge MAN to take the bull by the horn with the food, beverage, and tobacco sector and chemical and pharmaceutical sector to take the lead. We can do it. We can lead Africa in terms of trade. It may take some efforts. But it’s achievable,” she said.

Segun Ajayi Quadri, the director general of MAN, stated that his organisation was dedicated to collaborating with NAFDAC for the overall growth of the economy and the welfare of the people of the nation.

As a result, he claimed, all the efforts to raise the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the GDP and competitiveness index of the country is the organisation’s goal.
