Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Mongolian Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene and Tesla held a virtual meeting where they both discussed potential investment in the electric vehicle sector, according to a statement issued on behalf of the Mongolian government said.
The statement added that Musk and the Mongolian government discussed setting up a joint research venture on the use of rare earth elements and battery minerals.
Mongolia is a depot of extensive deposits of rare earth minerals and copper, which are critical materials in the electric vehicle supply chain.
