Meta commences last batch of layoffs

Facebook and Instagram parent Meta Platforms Inc has started its final round of layoffs. In March, Meta announced plans to eliminate 10,000 roles.

The cuts brings Meta’s headcount down to where it stood as of about mid-2021, following a hiring spree that doubled its workforce since 2020.

This round of layoffs is expected to cut deeply into Meta’s ad sales, marketing and partnerships teams.

Overall the cuts hit non-engineering roles most heavily. The company eliminated non-engineering roles like content design and user experience research most severely.
