Montana has banned Chinese-owned social media app TikTok.
Montana’s Governor Greg Gianforte said the move was made "to protect Montanans’ private data and sensitive personal information from being harvested by the Chinese Communist Party."
While TikTok has denied sharing its data with the Chinese government, TikTok has admitted to an incident in which employees spied on journalists’ locations using app data.
Montana’s ban is designed to block app stores from distributing the app to any users within the state.
