Former APGA guber aspirant, Dons Ude, found dead in Enugu

The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the death of Dons Ude, a former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.

According to the spokesperson of the police in the state, Daniel Ndukwe, said the victim’s decomposing body was found on Tuesday in a bush at Ninth Mile bypass.

He said the victim had been missing since April 22 when he left his Enugu residence in a white Toyota Highlander SUV to an undisclosed location.

Ndukwe said marks found on the body of the deceased “strongly suggest that he was murdered”, adding that his body has been taken to the morgue for preservation.

“All efforts made to trace his whereabouts proved abortive until his remains were found on the said date and location while the vehicle was later found abandoned and recovered today, 26 April at about 10 a.m. at Ngwo in Udi local government Area,” he said.

Ahmed Ammani, the commissioner of police in Enugu, said operatives from the homicide section of the state criminal investigation department and tactical squad will start an investigation into the incident.

Almost a month after the election in the state, Dons Ude was declared missing.

He was reportedly not responding to calls to his phone, which raised fears that he might have been kidnapped.

Until Wednesday when his body was found, his family was still on the lookout for the politician.
