Google Suspends Pinduoduo After Finding Malware in Versions

Bloomberg reports that Google has suspended Chinese shopping app Pinduoduo.

Google discovered malware in unsanctioned versions of the software, according to the report.

Google is investigating the matter and has suspended downloads of the Play Store version of Pinduoduo as a security precaution.

Pinduoduo’s suspension comes at a time when Chinese-owned apps are facing scrutiny from American and European lawmakers alike.

For example, Chinese-owned app TikTok has been accused of being a potential threat to national security.

Google warned users on Tuesday to uninstall off-store versions of Pinduoduo.
