Sam Bankman-Fried appeals ruling to disclose his anonymous $250m bond backers

Disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has filed to appeal a court decision to reveal the identities of the two unidentified people who co-signed his $250 million bail bond.

Bankman-Fried’s parents also co-signed the bond, but the other names were kept private.

Last week, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled in favorr of four separate petitions by several news organizations (including the Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg) seeking the names of these anonymous individuals.

Now that an appeal has been filed, Kaplan’s ruling has been stayed until at least Feb. 14.

Bankman-Fried’s lawyers had argued the possibility of physical threats to the parties were reasons to keep their identities private.
