Dell lays off 5% of its global workforce

Dell has announced the layoff of 5% of its worldwide employees as plunging PC sales continue to plunge.

The layoffs mean that 6,650 people will be out of work. Bloomberg data showed that the company peaked at 165,000 employees in January 2020.

Before today’s announcement, Dell had dropped its employee base to 133,000 and is expected to hit 126,350 after today’s cuts.

Dell is coming off a quarter in which revenue dropped 6% to $25 billion.
