Microsoft has extended its partnership with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT.
The new multi-year deal will see OpenAI get an undisclosed multi-billion-dollar investment from Microsoft.
OpenAI intends to use the investment to bolster its independent research and “develop AI that is increasingly safe, useful, and powerful.”
OpenAI will remain a capped-profit company as a part of the deal.
Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform will continue to be the exclusive cloud provider of OpenAI, powering all of the startup’s workloads across research, products, and API services.
