Twitter Plans Another Round of Layoffs

Reports have it that Elon Musk’s microblogging site Twitter Inc plans to lay off 50 workers in the coming weeks.

According to the report, the layoffs will be in the social media site’s product division.

Six weeks ago, Musk reportedly told staff there would not be further layoffs.

The planned layoffs could reduce the company’s headcount to under 2,000.

After taking over Twitter in October, Musk swept through the company with several product and organizational changes.

The company rolled out the Twitter-verified Blue check-mark as a paid service and also laid off about 50% of staff.

Twitter, in the words of Musk, is facing "a massive drop in revenue" as advertisers dropped out. Twitter’s revenue for the fourth quarter fell about 35% to $1.025 billion.
