NBC sanctions Arise TV for peddling fake news on Tinubu

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has sanctioned Arise TV for peddling fake news on the Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Arise TV had reported that INEC has commenced investigation into a case of criminal forfeiture against Tinubu.

Although the Management of Arise TV apologised on Sunday morning to the APC flag bearer over the fake report after INEC publicly dismissed it as fake

The station said: “Of criminal forfeiture of funds, linked to narcotics, smuggling conspiracy and money laundering against the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we Arise News that carried the news, which is now been denied by after the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and we apologise most sincerely to the APC presidential candidate.

Reacting to the misleading information on Tinubu, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in a letter released on the 12th of November, sanctioned Arise TV for breach of Broadcasting code.
