Electric vehicle (EV) maker Tesla Inc has announced the addition of Airbnb Inc co-founder Joseph Gebbia to its board.
The move contradicts the EV maker’s earlier decision to have just seven board seats.
The world’s most valuable EV company had sparked criticism for lacking independent board members after the departure of Oracle Inc co-founder Larry Ellison in August.
Gebbia is a U.S. billionaire designer and Internet entrepreneur. He joins Tesla after taking an advisory role at Airbnb in July.
Tesla said in a regulatory filing that the 41-year-old has waived all entitlement to cash compensation and has agreed to not take any stock-based rewards until July 2023.
