Google sends blogger $250k by mistake

Google sent an online blogger, Sam Curry, a quarter of a million dollars in August in what appears to be a case of mistaken identity.

Curry also works as a security engineer at Yuga Labs.

It took Google more than three weeks to respond to queries about the funds, Curry said.

Curry said he had previously taken part in bug bounty programs, which pay hackers to find vulnerabilities in software, but that there was no link to this work and the cash deposit.

Google said in a statement to NPR that it was aware of the error and was working to resolve it.
