Prison Break: Security operatives launch manhunt for over 50 inmates who escaped from the Kuje prison, Abuja

Suspected Terrorists on Tuesday night, attacked the Kuje Medium Correctional Centre in Abuja, the nation’s capital with bombs in an apparent move to gain entry into the facility and free some of its members, Vanguard News reports.

A prison staff, who confirmed the attack in a chat with newsmen disclosed that the attackers had come from the back of the prison yard.

Multiple news platforms reported that the attack lasted for more than 20 minutes hence causing panic in the area.

However, it was gathered that the terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram members, released hardened criminals into the nation’s capital. An official who spoke to the news outlet said,

“Suspected Boko Haram attackers have just seized the prisons from our control. They have destroyed the prison and we don’t know what they plan to do next. All major terrorists, armed robbers and kidnappers have escaped”
