Apple discontinues the iPod after 20 years

Apple Inc is pulling the plug on the iPod.

The tech giant is stopping support of the device that became the face of portable music after more than 20 years.

The iPod Touch is the only version of the portable music player still being sold.

Apple said in a blog post that the iPod Touch will be available till supplies last.

Launched in 2001, the iPod has undergone many changes in it struggle to avoid being eclipsed by smartphones, online music streaming, and the rise of the iPhone.

Apple stopped reporting iPod sales in 2015.
