Google in talks to buy cybersecurity firm Mandiant

A Reuters report has it that Alphabet Inc’s Google is in talks to buy cybersecurity firm Mandiant.

Mandiant focuses on cyber-incident response and cybersecurity testing.

Mandiant has a market capitalization of about $4.53 billion.

Acquiring Mandiant could strengthen Google’s cloud computing business, has been losing billions of dollars a year.

Google’s bigger rival Microsoft Corp is also reportedly interested in buying Mandiant, the report added.

FireEye Inc had acquired Mandiant in 2013 but sold its products last year to a consortium led by private-equity firm Symphony Technology Group, making Mandiant a standalone entity.
