Foxconn’s India plant to reopen on Jan 12

Government officials have announced that Apple Inc supplier Foxconn will reopen its shut iPhone manufacturing facility in southern India on Jan. 12.

A legislator in Chennai, the region where the plant is located, also confirmed the reopening date.

The Foxconn plant was closed on Dec. 18 following protests over 250 of its workers being treated for food poisoning.

Apple, having discovered that some dormitories and dining rooms did not meet required standards, has since placed the factory on probation.
