Amazon.com Inc. has brushed off speculation that it was suspending sales of its Kindle e-reader in China.
The speculations erupted after some of Amazon’s signature product’s models went out of stock on Chinese platforms.
Bloomberg reports that Kindle Oasis and Kindle Paperwhite devices were not in stock on JD.com but were still available from some vendors on Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.’s e-commerce outlet.
Yahoo was the last major US tech giant to pull out from China as Beijing continued to intensify its regulatory pressure.
On Weibo, China’s Twitter-like social service, the hashtag associated with Amazon’s potential Kindle exit from the market was read more than 16 million times by Tuesday afternoon, according to Bloomberg.
