EV Billionaire Henrik Fisker buys $21.8 million hollywood hills mansion

On his journey of becoming one of the world’s best known automotive figures, Henrik Fisker first attracted attention for designing some of the most beautiful modern automobiles, including the retro-inspired BMW Z8 roadster and the timelessly sexy Aston Martin DB9.

The ArtCenter College of Design grad, born and bred in Denmark, also designed the exotic-looking Fisker Karma, the luxury plug-in hybrid that bore his name but was ultimately doomed to be a total failure, a victim of costly production errors and other mishaps.

Beyond his iconic designs, Fisker is primarily known for his decade-long rivalry with arch-enemy Elon Musk. Back in the late aughts, the pair were locked in a tight race to become the first automaker to bring a mass-market luxury EV to U.S. customers.

Though it was Fisker who won the first battle — beating Tesla’s Model S to market with his pricey Karma — his brand collapsed within three years, while Tesla is now the world’s most valuable car company.

But Fisker isn’t so easily shaken. From the ashes of his bankrupt business has risen the reborn Fisker Inc., which launched in 2016 in collaboration with his business partner (and wife) Geeta Gupta-Fisker, an India-born veteran financier and biotech PhD holder. Though the new Fisker company has yet to release its first vehicle, public enthusiasm for EV automakers is at an all-time high; Fisker Inc. went public last year and now sports a market cap of nearly $6 billion.

And Forbes says the combined net worth of Henrik and Geeta — who together own 40% of the company — is $3 billion and climbing fast.

As their fortune balloons, it’s no secret that the Fiskers have been living primarily in Los Angeles, where Fisker Inc. is headquartered. Since 2019, the couple has leased a house on Sunset Plaza Drive in the Hollywood Hills; now, records reveal they’ve opted to buy a lavish mansion in the same area.

Tucked away on a secluded yet prime cul-de-sac just above L.A.’s Sunset Strip, the new Fisker estate boasts thrilling westward views that encompass the Century City skyline and the Pacific Ocean.
