According to the App Annie report, TikTok was considered the most downloaded app last year. People from more than 150 countries can use the platform to express themselves via TikTok features. It has over 1 billion users, and this number increases every day. Moreover, TikTok developers never cease to impress with new updates and improvements for users of all ages. For example, the new Music Visualizer creative effect gives users more possibilities to show their Story in a new, unique way. The recent auto-captions introduction allows users who are hard of hearing to use and thoroughly enjoy TikTok features. The caption creator may edit the generated captions too.
Constant updates and news about TikTok are the best examples of this social media platform popularity. It is at the peak of its virality and does not look like it is going down in the ranks. Unlike other social networks, TikTok is more loyal to video saving, and only a video creator decides if his or her video can be saved from the platform or not. Thus, there are, so to say, public (free) and private (protected) videos. A public video can be easily saved from TikTok due to in-built features. In contrast, a private one can be saved only with the help of third-party tools called a TikTok downloader (see below to know more about online TikTok video savers).
Downloading of TikTok public videos
There are two simple ways to get a TikTok video with a watermark via the platform itself.
- Via “Tap & Hold”
To get a video this way, find the necessary media content and play it > tap and hold a screen to pick out “Save video” > choose a location for a video (depending on your phone, there will be different location options).
- Via a “Share” icon
Again, find the desired video and pick out the “Share” button (an arrow icon) > “Save video”. Go to the “Downloads” folder or gallery to enjoy the stored video.
Downloading of TikTok protected videos with web servers
To upload a video whose creator has disabled the download function, you will have to take a slightly different route. But I should tell you that it is possible to keep protected videos without a watermark. Hooray!
There are two widely-used ways to get a private video without a TikTok logo: using web-based TikTok downloader such as TTSaver, SnapTik, ExpertsPHP, SssTikTok, Bigbangram, or, for example, Kapwing tool where you may also edit a video before saving it to a device (video track changing, texts insertion, etc.). Such downloaders operate on the Internet and don’t require installation.
To get a video to a device this way, you need to load a page of any online saver with a device browser and insert an earlier copied link to a TikTok video on the saver’s input line. Then press a save or download button (depending on a downloader you use), pick out a video quality and save the video to a “Downloads” folder or a gallery.
Downloading of TikTok protected videos with apps
Occasionally it’s more convenient to use an app to keep videos if you resort to frequent downloads. But of course, all TikTok downloaders for phones require installation and thus take up phone storage.
For example, you may try “Video downloader for TikTok”, “Video Downloader Without Watermark” apps for Androids, and “SaveTok”, “RepostTik” for iPhones. In general, they save video via its address insertion, but some of them can upload slower than desired.
Important: if you save videos without a watermark using any TikTok downloader and publish it on the Internet, don’t forget to link/tag the author of the stored video. But even with a TikTok logo, it is a good idea to acknowledge the creator, which shows your respect and prevents copyright infringement.
