Prince Harry back in UK without Meghan for funeral and isolating at his former residence

Prince Harry is thought to be self-isolating at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor after returning to the UK for the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

The Duke of Sussex, 36, is in quarantine for at least five days after arriving at Heathrow Airport on a British Airways flight from Los Angeles on Sunday.

It is Harry’s first visit to the UK since he and Meghan, 39, quit their roles as senior royals and moved to the US, and since their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.

He wasn’t joined by wife Meghan Markle, who is pregnant with a girl, or their one-year-old son Archie. They remain at home in Montecito, California, after doctors advised the duchess not to make the long journey due to her pregnancy.

Harry might have to wait three weeks to about a month to see his wife again, depending on the length of his stay and whether he follows guidance from US infectious disease experts.

The duke was initially thought to be self-isolating at Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace, close to the apartment where William, 38, lives with wife Kate Middleton and their three children.

The cottage was where Harry proposed to Meghan, and they continued to live there after their wedding until moving to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

After Megxit, Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank moved into Frogmore Cottage. Eugenie gave birth to a baby boy in February.

Harry, sixth in line to the throne, reportedly left his and Meghan’s mansion in California on Saturday evening for a 10-hour overnight flight from Los Angeles International Airport.

A witness told the Sun that Harry was on a BA flight that landed at Heathrow at 1.15pm on Sunday.

The witness said: “He landed at Heathrow. I saw him getting into an escorted car.”

It is said he was wearing chinos, a jacket and a black face mask when he was met by security with police cars also on the tarmac.

Harry, who had been staying in touch with the Queen and Philip through Zoom calls, climbed into a black Range Rover and was driven away.

It was initially reported that Harry was driven to Kensington Palace in west London to self-isolate at Nottingham Cottage.

But Mr Scobie reported that Harry was at Frogmore Cottage, the Sussexes’ official residence in England, on Monday.

Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank were said to have moved in after Harry, Meghan and Archie moved to North America.

Mourners coming from outside England are required to self-isolate from arrival and for the first full 10 days after they arrive.

But Harry will be entitled to leave his place of self-isolation on compassionate grounds to attend the funeral.
