Tijani is good to go for the Eagles – CESC Manager, Uche Jay Ugwu

Although Tijani Samson was placed on Standby by Super Eagles gaffer Gernot Rohr ahead of Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone, his youth club manager believes that the young sensation would do well at senior level for the country.

Tijani who was signed by Austrian champions, Red Bull Salzburg from Lagos-based Collins Edwin Sports Club in August, and was immediately shipped out on loan to Hartberg in order to enjoy playing time and develop faster.

“First let me say that destinies are different. We have all seen the kid at the big stage and what he can do. We saw his display at Afcon in Tanzania and the World Cup proper, Uche said.

“He is someone who plays with his heart and gives his best at all times. When he arrived Salzburg he told them he does not want to sit on the bench hence he was loaned out to another club in the same division where he is been playing on a regular basis.

With Hartberg the central midfielder featured in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round where they lost 2-3.

“I think he’s gathering all the experiences to play at top level already, he’s somebody that will serve his country for a very long time,” Uche concluded.

Tijani was captain of Nigeria’s cadet team that finished fourth at the Africa Cup if Nations in 2019, and also part of the squad that competed in the FIFA U-17 World Cup same year.

During his team’s opening match against Hungary, Tijani scored a brace as Nigeria U17 won 4–2 to grabbed the Man of The Match. He further made his debut with the senior Nigeria national team in a friendly 1-0 loss to Algeria in October 2020.
