The Biggest PS5 Games Coming in 2021

The PS5 launch is just around the corner, and players are buzzed for the upcoming line up of games. However, most content around upcoming PS5 games focuses on the games coming at some point in the future. While it might be fun to know that you can take a break from player Elder Scrolls Online to play Elder Scrolls 6, it’s fun when you learn that Bethesda recently said the game is still “years away.” You read that right – Elder Scrolls 6 is not hitting consoles anytime soon. Disappointing, but it means you still have time to grind your way to the top or buy ESO gold online to get you there a little faster if that’s how you like to do it.

Here we want to focus on the games that you can expect in 2021. The PS4 has given us some great games and seven years of gaming fun, but it’s now time for the next generation. The problem is, many players are wondering whether they should buy the console at launch or wait until their favorite games hit the shelves (or digital store, for those of you picking the digital-only edition). Hopefully, this list will help you decide on when you should grab the PS5.

God of War: Ragnarok

Ragnarok is a follow up to the 2018 game, God of War. Not much is known about the game so far, with the publishers only releasing a tiny teaser trailer. However, that doesn’t mean we’re totally clueless about what to expect. After the trailer was launched, players quickly got to work decoding the runes in the title card. Through their deciphering skills, players managed to work out that the character Freya will have a much more prominent role in the upcoming game. The developers, Sony Santa Monica, have announced that the game will be released in 2021 but were no more specific. Hopefully, more information will follow soon!

Horizon: Forbidden West

Another major one to watch out for is the sequel to the highly popular and critically acclaimed game Horizon Zero Dawn. Forbidden West is a continuation of Aloy’s story, this time taking her to America’s wild frontier and visiting places such as California and Nevada. The trailer for the games looked stunning and was showcased at Sony’s PS5 event. By the looks of it, the game features a variety of new landscapes and will even have players spending a good chunk of the game underwater fighting machine alligators! The game will be released sometime in 2021 on the PS5 and the PS4.

Deathloop

Deathloop is an upcoming action-adventure game that will be PS5 exclusive for a year. Players take on the role of Colt and try to break the time loop by using powerful weapons and abilities to take out eight key targets. It sounds straightforward at first, but you’re faced with a rival assassin called Julianna whose sole mission is to keep the time loop going forever. The game is set to be released in June 2021.

Gotham Knights

Batman fans are excited for this one! Gotham Knights is an open-world action RPG that will be released on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC. The game is set in its own universe and takes place after Batman’s death. There are four playable characters to choose from in this game:

  • Batgirl (Barbara Gorden) – A skilled hacker and determined fighter with training in kickboxing, capoeira, and jiu-jitsu.
  • Nightwing (Dick Grayson) – Also known as the first Robin, Nightwing is a natural leader and a master in acrobatics.
  • Red Hood (Jason Todd) – The anti-hero, Red Hood, is hot-tempered but loyal with a range of combat strengths.
  • Robin (Tim Drake) – A genius and expert fighter with excellent stealth skills.

Players can even play solo or in two-player coop. The game will be released sometime in 2021.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

This 3-rd person action-adventure game was pegged for release in 2020 but has been pushed back to 2021. The game has been described as “Pixar-Esque” and features a young Spirit Guide who travels to an abandoned village searching for a sacred mountain shrine. She encounters spirits on the journey through the forest, some of them good, and some of them bad. She has to fight corrupted spirits along the way. The game is set to be released on the PS5 in March 2021, so it’s one of our list’s earlier releases.

What Should I Do Until 2021?

Here we’ve only covered some of the biggest games coming in 2021, and our list isn’t exhaustive (more games are coming in 2021). However, it’s also worth remembering that you’ll be getting games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Demon’s Souls with the PS5 launch. If those games aren’t your thing, then you can always focus on the games you’re already playing while you wait for your favorites.
