Nigerian army denies it’s involvement in the Lekki toll gate massacre

The Nigerian Army has denied it’s involvement in the Lekki toll gate shooting which led to the death of at least 8th people.

Men in military uniform stormed the Lekki protest ground at the Lekki toll gate with military vehicles on Tuesday evening 20th October, 2020, and opened fire on peaceful protesters.  

Recall that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had imposed a 24 hours curfew in the state.

However, peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate, went on with the protest. 

It was reported that operatives of the Lekki Concession Center were seen removing the security cameras before the incident occurred. 

The street lights and the led screen used for adverts were also turned off. 

The Nigerian army in a series of tweets denied their involvement in the shooting saying “no soldiers were at the scene.”

Though they are videos online showing the military men as they arrived with armored vehicles, the Nigerian army still denied it’s involvement.
