Pre-sales open at 5 a.m. PT Friday for two of the four new Apple iPhones, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

The two other models, the 12 Pro Max and 12 Mini, are delayed until November.

If you want delivery of the 12 or 12 Pro by Friday, Oct. 23, you’ll need to get in your orders early. First responders should be able to have the phones delivered on time, while procrastinators will probably see their deliveries after the release date.

The new lineup replaces last year’s iPhone 11 series with a slightly redesigned body, more heavy-duty glass that Apple says is “4x” less likely to break, a more powerful processing chip and connects to the new, faster 5G wireless networks.

The iPhone 12 starts at $799 with 64 GB of storage, or $849 for 128 GBs and $949 for 256 GBs.

The “Pro” model, which has improved camera features over the base iPhone 12 model, starts at $999 with 128 GB of storage, versus $1099 with 256 GB and $1,299 with 512 GB.

The top-of-the-line iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is being released on Nov. 13, touts better battery performance, higher resolution screen and a bigger screen and at 6.7 inches is the largest iPhone ever.

The other November release, the iPhone 12 Mini, offers the same features of the 12 line, but in a smaller body, with a 5.7-inch screen, to the 6.1-inch of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro.

Reader alert: the new phones will not ship with a power brick for charging or earbuds, so if those are important to you, you’ll need to buy them as accessories.

Look to spend an extra $29.99 for the charger and $19.99 for the wired earbuds.

Apple has re-designed the new iPhones to work with a new “MagSafe” magnetic charger that sells for $39.99. The MagSafe case is $49 and a wallet attachment sells for $59.

The AppleCare extended warranty program sells for $149 for the 12 and $199 for the 12 Pro. A step-up program, which includes theft and loss, sells for $219, or $269 for the 12 Pro. Without opting for the step-up, Apple charges an additional $29 to fix the screen, $99 for overall damage and $149 for theft and loss for AppleCare members.
