Man arrested for killing his 70-year-old father with a shovel in Anambra

A 26-year-old man named Chisom Ogum, has been arrested by the Anambra state police command for allegedly killing his 70-year-old father, Christopher Ogum, and burying his corpse in a shallow grave.

Chisom was arrested today 26th September in Umuomaku community, Orumba South local government area of the state. 

It was reported that Chisom went berserk and attacked his 70-year-old father with and buried his corpse in a shallow grave after killing him. 

Chisom however attemped to escape the scene after committing the crime but was caught and beaten to stupor by an angry mob. 

He was also forced to dig out his father’s corpse from where he buried it by the angry mob. 

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Anambra state police command, Haruna Mohammed, stated that the police detectives visited the scene of the crime, took photographs of the victim and then deposited the corpse to the mortuary for autopsy. 

Haruna said that the shovel used in perpetrating the crime was recovered by the police detectives as an exhibit, adding that the State Commissioner of Police, CP John B. Abang has ordered that the case be transferred to the State CID in Awka for discreet investigation.
