The Nigerian Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick has revealed that it lost three major sponsorship opportunities.

An Airline, Telecommunications giant, and an automobile company were part of the sponsors that did not come true for the federation, Amaju Pinnick revealed in a chat with BBC.

Pinnick explained how the federation has managed to survive and his plans of making NFF financially independent. He said that the federation was 65% self-funded from 0% but could have done better should the lost deals have pulled through.

“I knew an airline that wanted to come to the Nigerian Football Federation with a whooping USD1.5 million, a Telco, and an automobile company,”- the NFF President said.

“These three companies would have made us self-sufficient, but what happened, there were crisis.”

“The news about the companies that are still with us is that they did their integrity test on us. Such as Nike, and that is why they are thinking of what they believe is going on.

“The truth is, we can still do it, he concluded.

Amaju Pinnick further stated that the federation has cleared all salaries including that of indigenous coaches and looks to keep working with its current sponsors to properly manage situations amid the pandemic period.
