Man in critical condition after Queens shooting as violence continues

A 24-year-old man is clinging to life after he was shot multiple times in Queens early Friday, cops said.

According to New York Post,The victim was blasted in the head, ankle and wrist on Queens Boulevard near Hillside Avenue in Jamaica around 2:30 a.m., police said.

He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition.

After the shooting, someone fled in a gray sedan heading west on Hillside Avenue, cops said.

The motive for the gunplay was not immediately clear.

About 20 minutes earlier, a 28-year-old man was shot once in the buttocks on East 224th Street near Bronxwood Avenue in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, cops said.

He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shootings come a day after seven people were shot in five incidents across the city, according to preliminary numbers released by the NYPD.

Among the victims was 17-year-old Kather Werts, who was shot in the head and foot just before 4:45 p.m. Thursday on Hoe Avenue near East 174th Street in Crotona.

Werts, of Belmont, was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
