Port Harcourt, Rivers State (PageOne) – The Rivers State Police Command have arrested a 22-year-old suspected serial child trafficker identified as Chinedu Nwachukwu, for allegedly killing a nursing mother and stealing her baby.
It was gathered that Nwachukwu sold the baby for N350,000 in Igwuruta, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, at the police headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, on Saturday 5th September.
Mukan described the suspect as a serial killer and a kidnapper.
According to Mukan, the suspect beated the woman and hit her with a stick, before dumping her in a septic tank and stealing her newborn baby in August.
The Commissioner of police said that police operatives recovered the woman’s corpse and the child was rescued.
Mukan said that Nwachukwu killed mother of the baby and sold the baby to two different women at the sum of N250,000 and N350,000 respectively.
