Innoson Vehicles set to launch ride-hailing service in Enugu

One of the biggest indigenous vehicle manufacturing companies in Nigeria Innoson Vehicles said it is about to float a ride-hailing service in Enugu State.

The company confirmed in a Twitter post that it is currently recruiting professional drivers for the ride services.

Innoson would enter into the ride-hailing market where one of the country’s major players, Bolt currently operates.

Ride-hailing became more popular in Enugu with the entrance of the services of Opay in 2019 when the company floated its Tricycle-hailing service before introducing its car-hailing in May 2020 before winding down the service after few month of operations.

Without doubts, Coal City as Enugu is popularly called is set and ripe for such innovations following Opay’s experiment which didn’t last for too long.

While Opay and Bolt do not own the assets, Innoson said that vehicles will be given out on a hire purchase which will afford the drivers own the vehicles after full payment.

The company has also not confirmed the duration of repayment for the cars when taken up by the drivers whom they are currently recruiting.

Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Co. Ltd., shortened as IVM, is a Nigerian automobile and bus manufacturing company. It was founded by Innocent Chukwuma Nwala, and runs a plant in Nnewi in the state of Anambra. Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing is nicknamed Pride Of African Road.
