Mexican American actor, singer, and songwriter, Sara Ramirez comes out as non-binary

The former Grey’s Anatomy star, 44, played the fan-favourite role of orthopedic surgeon Dr. Callie Torres in the medical drama from 2006 to 2016.

Captioning a new selfie and profile picture of themselves on Instagram on Thursday, Sara wrote: “New profile pic.

“In me is the capacity to be Girlish boy, Boyish girl, Boyish boy. Girlish girl, All, Neither #nonbinary “.

The selfie itself saw Sara don a purple t-shirt, a fade and short haircut and a determined gaze at the camera.

Beneath the inspiring post, RuPaul’s Drag Race star and transgender activist Peppermint commented on their post, writing: “I love you with every fiber. You are such a bright light it’s almost Hard to fathom.

“Thank you for sharing. I can only think how many young folks will feel even more held by you. No pressure. I’m just SO PROUD. I’m in tears”.
