Father of four commits suicide over business failure in Rivers State

A man identified as Chinedu Ogwa, has committed suicide in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital, due to business failure.

The 45-year-old father of four who is an Auto parts trader, on Thursday night 27th August, was found lifeless in his apartment in Diobu, Port Harcourt. It was gathered that Ogwa took rat poison.

According to the wife of the deceased, Chidinma Ogwa, her late husband had attempted suicide on Monday.

She said that he told her when he came home on Monday that he attempted to take his life because he was frustrated as his auto spare parts business at Ikoku, Port Harcourt, was not doing well.

Chidinma said that her husband also had told her that some people were placing wrong allegations on him, and that his debtors are not willing to pay him so he could pay his debtees.

She said that she advised her husband to trust in God after he told him about his first suicide attempt, and he assured her that everything would soon be fine.

Unfortunately, Mr Ogwa took his life on Thursday. Chidinma and her children came back from church on Thursday night, and found his lifeless body laying in the house, with foam coming out of his mouth.

Chidinma said that her husband left a note asking her and her children to forgive him.

In the note, Chinedu said that Chidinma’s younger brother should sell all the goods in his shop within three months and use the money to settle his debts. He also wrote a list of those owing him money.

Chinedu’s corpse has deposited in the mortuary and the case has been reported to the police.
