Edo State police commissioner confirms the arrest of six suspected killers of Uwaila Omozuwa

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, has announced the arrest of six suspects that raped and gruesomely murder 100-Level Microbiology student of the University of Benin, Uwaila Vera Omozuwa.

Kokumo paraded the six suspects on Wednesday 26th August.

The name of the suspects were given as Nelson Ogbebor, Collins Ulegbe, Mrs Tina Samuel, Mrs Mary Ade, Akato Valentine and Nosa Osabohien.

Pageone recalls that Uwaila was raped and severely injured, while she was reading in her church, A Redeemed Christian Church of God branch in Ikpoba hill, Edo State, leading to her death.

It was gathered that the police traced the phone of the deceased to one of the suspects, Nosa Osabohien.

Nosa who claims to be a phone repairer said that the prime suspect, Collins Uyegbulen sold Uwa’s phone to him.

He led the police to arrest Collins who confessed to have he used the fire extinguisher in the church to hit late Uwa’s head after the other suspects took turns to rape her.

Collins gave the names of other members of his gang as Akato Valentine and Collins Ogbebor.

According to Collins, one Mary Ade paid them N1m to kill the suspect and then use a handkerchief she gave them to clean the blood from the private part of the deceased.

Another suspect, Tina Samuel, was also arrested, after she allegedly obstructed the police from arresting her son, Lucky, who is one of the suspects.

According to the Edo State Commissioner of Police, the matter is of great concern to the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu.

Kokumo said the the IG had sent homicide experts to work with the police officers in Benin, in other to bring the culprits to book.

He said that after efforts made by the Edo State Police Command, the perpetrators have been finally arrested.

Kokumo added that the post-mortem that was carried out on Uwa’s corpse confirmed that she was raped.
