NSCDC arrests eight suspected kidnappers terrorising communities in Oyo State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oyo State Command, has arrested eight suspected kidnappers terrorising Ado Awaye, Araromi, Okaka and Otu communities in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area and Ilero in the Iwa Local Council Development Authority of Oyo State..

The command stated that one Alhaji Baani Abubakar, who is also known as Chief Jowuro, made a distress call to the Agro Rangers in Oke-Ogun around 11:15 pm on Thursday.

According to the state commandant of the NSCDC, Iskilu Akinsanya, the runaway suspected kidnappers were spotted at Bobajiroro Hotel, Oke Adeta, Iseyin.

Akinsanya disclosed that six males and two female suspects were arrested.

He added that during investigation, his men trailed one of the suspects, Umaru Lawal, to their hideout.

“Interrogation revealed that some numbers were stored in his phone with different codes such as 52 , 42 , 33 etc .
“Umaru later agreed to help the corps in getting his friend . Items recovered from the suspects include a red Boxer motorcycle with registration number , BDJ 580 UL ; a red Boxer motorcycle registration number , EGB 628 UF; four Tecno phones sets ; one QUP phone ; two Itel phones ; and sum of N 32,510,00.” The statement reads.

According to the Oyo State Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, Oluwole Olusegun, the suspects would be handed over to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the State Command for further investigation and prosecution.
