(Lagos-Nigeria) – A 40-foot container fell on two women on Friday night, at Odo-Olowu Bus Stop, Ijesha, along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, crushing them to death.
It was gathered that the incident happened around 10:45p.m. on Friday 21st August.
Emergency responders have recovered the bodies and have taken them to a morgue. However, the identity of the two women have not been ascertain.
The incident was confirmed by the Director-General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu.
It was gathered that the truck which was carrying an empty 40-foot container, suddenly suffered brake failure and rammed into a stationary truck, and the container fell off.
Some LASEMA personnels were able to rescue the driver of the truck and he was taken to a hospital.
“Sadly, two adult females lost their lives and their remains have been transported by State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU, to the mortuary,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
This is coming weeks after two staff members of FAAN died in a similar incident.
