Bauchi DPO accused of torturing two alleged chicken thieves to death

A DPO in Bauchi State has been accused of torturing three alleged chicken thieves, which led to the death of two of them.

The three men were arrested for allegedly stealing and selling seven chickens.

It was reported that when they were caught, the man they sold the chickens to was allegedly ordered to pay the sum of two thousand Naira each for 13 chickens, instead of the 7 chickens he bought from the alleged thiefs.

The three men were also ordered to pay 4,000 Naira each and their parents paid a total of 12,000 Naira.

However, the police still didn’t release the men to their parents. It was reported that they asked the parents to go home and told them that their sons would be released later.

It was reported that after the parents left, the Deputy Police Officer allegedly ordered the suspects to be tied up and beaten.

One of the suspects allegedly died on the spot, while the second died in a hospital and the third suffered multiple fractures.

A parent of one of the victims narrated the incident to BBC Hausa.
