
The driver and owner of the car that killed Nigeria’s first and only female combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Kaduna, have been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Kaduna on Wednesday.
The defendants, Nehmiah Adejo and David Adejo however pleaded not guilty after they were arraigned on four count charges.
The charges includes causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention, driving without drivers licence and driving without authorisation of the owner, and one count charged of negligent conduct while causing danger to person and property.
Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Benjamin, presided over the case and granted the defendants bail of N1 million each after hearing arguments from their counsels and Prosecutor DSP Martins Leo.
The defendants are required to produce two sureties each who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and are engaged in legal businesses and also present a Bank Verification Number that corresponds with their information.
The case was thereafter subsiquently adjourned to 24th and 25th of August, 2020.
