Newborn baby rescued after he was abandoned in a soak away pit in Ogun State

A newborn baby boy has been rescued by residents after he was found in a soakaway pit in Ogun state.

This happened in Oyo Avenue, Olorin community in Adiyan area, Ogun State on Saturday 8th August.

Children playing around the soakaway pit, heard the cries of the baby and informed a woman that a cock had fallen into the soakaway pit.

When the woman got there, she found out that it was the cry of a baby and alerted people.

As efforts were being made to rescue the baby, the incident was reported at the Agbado Police Station and some police officers visited the scene.

A welder helped to cut the iron bars covering the soakaway pit and the baby was brought out.

The baby boy who was believed to be a day old, due to the appearance of his belly button, was taken to the Oke Aro Health Centre for medical care.
