Boy, 6, dies after he was hit by a car on the street of Manchester

A six-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car, police said tonight.

According to Mirror, the boy suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital where he later died.

A 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

She remains in police custody and is due to be questioned by officers tonight, reports the Manchester Evening News.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 6pm on Sunday, August 9.

“Officers were called to a report of a collision involving a car and a boy on Wilmott Street, in Manchester.

“A six-year-old boy suffered critical injuries and sadly passed away in hospital a short time later.

“A 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.”

Wilmott Street and the surrounding area, including part of Stretford Road, was closed on Sunday evening while police worked to gather evidence from the scene.

An air ambulance landed on the Bonsall Street bridge, over Princess Road, close to the scene of the collision.
