US court overturns death sentence for Boston Marathon bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

An appellate court has tossed the death sentence and overturned three of the convictions of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

According to New York Post, the court in its ruling cited errors in the proceedings that found Dzhokhar guilty and condemned him to death, according to papers tweeted out by @Law360 senior Boston courts reporter Chris Villani.

The ruling will not result in Tsarnaev being freed, and the death penalty can be revisited, according to an excerpt included with the tweet.

“Dzhokhar will remain confined to prison for the rest of his life, with the only question remaining being whether the government will end his life by executing him,” the excerpt read.
