Four robbers killed by vigilante during bank robbery in Oyo

A branch of First Bank in Okeho, Kajola Local Government Area, Oyo State, was attacked by armed robbers on Wednesday 29th July.

An eyewitness, Kazeem, told PUNCH that the robbers numbering six stormed the bank around 4:40pm.

According to Kazeem, the robbers came in two vehicles and started shooting to announce their arrival.

The anti-riot policeman attached to the bank was reportedly shot dead by the robbers and they went inside the bank and carted away some money.

Some hunters and members of a vigiante group in the community reportedly mobilised and quickly blocked the roads, thereby preventing the robbers from escaping.

Four of the armed robbers were reportedly killed by the group and their corpses were set ablaze by the angry mob.

“The six -man armed robbers came fully armed . They killed the mobile police at the bank and stole some money, but some youths in the community prevented them from escaping
“Four of the robbers were killed and the angry mob set heir corpses ablaze.” An eyewitness said.

A resident identified as Femi Ogundele, told PUNCH that the remaining robbers hijacked another car and escaped in it.

The incident was confirmed by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi.
