Gunfire erupted outside a Brooklyn park Sunday night, killing a 16-year-old boy and injuring two more teenagers, officials said.
According to New York Daily, the victims, all male, were shot outside George Walker Jr. Park, on Vermont St. at Jamaica Ave. in Cypress Hills, just before 6:40 p.m., police said.
The 16-year-old boy died on the scene, while an 18-year-old victim was shot in the head and critically hurt with life-threatening wounds, officials said. Medics rushed him to Kings County Hospital.
Another victim, 17, was shot in the leg, cops said. He’s in stable condition at Brookdale Hospital.
The shooting is the fifth homicide in 24 hours in New York City. It comes on the heels of a bloody two-and-a-half-hour stretch in the early morning hours Sunday, which saw a Golden Gloves boxer shot to death on Staten Island, a transgender woman fatally stabbed in the chest in the Bronx and a man fatally shot in the head outside a Bronx apartment building.
Also on Sunday afternoon, a man was shot in the back in his Queens home in what police believe was a domestic violence incident. He later died from his injuries.
