TV reporter confirms she has cancer after a lump on her was spotted by a viewer

A TV reporter has an eagle-eyed viewer to thank after she was diagnosed with cancer after the viewer noticed a suspicious lump on her neck.

Victoria Price, an investigative reporter for WFLA in Tampa, received an email after appearing on air in June. However, the email was not related to her newest story, but rather a possible tumor.

“Hi, just saw your news report. What concerned me is the lump on your neck. Please have your thyroid checked. Reminds me of my neck. Mine turned out to be cancer. Take care of your self,” the woman wrote.

After her physician performed an ultrasound on the lump, Price learned there was a nodule growing on her thyroid. A cancer specialist later confirmed it was thyroid cancer that was spreading to her lymph nodes.

“Had I never received that email, I never would have called my doctor. The cancer would have continued to spread. It’s a scary and humbling thought,” Price wrote. “I will forever be thankful to the woman who went out of her way to email me, a total stranger. She had zero obligation to, but she did anyway.”

Price announced last Thursday she would be taking some time off for surgery and treatment.

She added that she had no yet heard back from the viewer who emailed her, but was “forever grateful” to them.
