Ray hushpuppi reportedly hires Michael Jackson’s former lawyer, Mark Geragos to defend him


There are unconfirmed reports that Ray Hushpuppi has hired a former lawyer to Michael Jackson, Mark Geragos, to represent him in court.

PageOne.ng cannot confirm the authenticity of the report.

Nigerian musician, Samclef who broke the news on Instagram said:

““Mark Geragos is Hushpuppi lawyer. Former Micheal Jackson lawyer This movie go sweet pass Netflix… he might not even spend all his time. he will work with the government. And regain his freedom. Will be giving u guys update. #samklefblogginaire”

Geragos is the managing partner for the law firm of Geragos & Geragos, where he oversees criminal defense and civil litigation. He was one of the lead lawyers in two groundbreaking federal class action lawsuits against New York Life Insurance and AXA, for insurance policies issued in the early 20th century during the time of the Armenian Genocide of more than 1.5 million Armenians. The two cases settled for over $37.5 million, in 2004 and 2005.

In 2009, a lawsuit against three German insurance companies was rejected by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, on the basis that the U.S. government does not legally recognize the Armenian Genocide.

Last week Friday, the U.S. Department of Justice charged Hushpuppi to court in Los Angeles for allegedly laundering ‘Millions of Dollars from Cybercrime Schemes’

In a detailed press release by the U.S. Department of Justice, the government said Hushpuppi carried out business email compromise frauds that targeted U.S. law firm, a foreign bank and an English Premier League soccer club.

The U.S has not released the identity of the law firm, foreign bank and the English Premier League club he allegedly defrauded. However, the identity of the English premier league was not disclosed, the allegation that he defrauded Lazio is a piece of fresh evidence that is emerging.

If he is found guilty, Hushpuppi could get up to 20 years in jail.
